Our Mission...
We craft private island stays with personal service and a down-to-earth welcome. Come curious, leave restored, and bring back a story or two (and maybe a new paddle skill).
Kent is a Registered Maine Guide and our Executive Director. He started on the island in 2007 and has been living, breathing, and teaching island life ever since. Raised in Monmouth, he took a 25-year detour before returning home to build this dream with family close by.
Meet our crew: "The Provisioners." Mary, Lydia, Bill, Ruby, Sean, Rob, and Penny keep the island running with skill, heart, and a good dose of Maine humor. We would not be here without them.
Since the beginning, 1BSI has been about community. Our Annabessacook Lake neighbors are part of the island's story, from swinging hammers and running chainsaws to serving on our Board of Directors.
Sky, our Island Dog Diplomat, joined the family in 2018. She is an Alaskan Husky/Pointer who loves a good run and an even better hello. If she gets a little too excited, just say the word and we will leash her up.
