The Oaktagon Tree House is what happens when you decide to live with the forest instead of just visiting it. Built around a living red oak (her name is Annie), this octagonal tree house invites you up into the canopy, where birds provide the soundtrack and the lake glimmers below. Perched on a 14-acre island just a half-mile from shore, it’s a place to slow down, look outward through leaves and branches, and remember what it feels like to be held by trees.

Kent was an excellent host; the island and each of his cabins were thoroughly built, elegant, comfortable and peaceful - the beds were comfortable, the kitchen layout cabin-like and very functional, and the porch view was stunning. The key is your mindset. If you are a writer, remote worker, or on a romantic or family get away, the serene ,experience is excellent.
We had a wonderful stay at the Oaktagon Treehouse on the island. We paddled out in a canoe and kayak that Kent let us borrow and it worked out great! The yurt was very clean, cozy and had all the necessities, although we spent most of our time exploring the island, sitting on the dock looking out at the beautiful lake or around the campfire. Kent and Heather were super nice and made sure we had what we needed, couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Wonderful stay!
Good times
This is such a magical place! Our friends and two dogs had such a peaceful, wonderful and memorable time here as the first guests in the season. The house itself is so well designed with incredible details and everything you need. Walking around the island is our favorite thing to do on top of taking a kayaking trip. Kent is a top-notch host who tells great stories, always be there for us and answers any questions we might have.
Kent was an amazing host for our stay at the Oaktagon! The treehouse was beautiful and very well done. Kent filled us in on all the features and unique builds of the treehouse and Anne herself. We can’t wait to stay on one of Kent’s other unique stays in the near future!

We had a great weekend stay in the "Oaktagon" with friends. The treehouse was super cozy, we had everything we needed, and our kids had a blast exploring. Kent is a fantastic and kind host and we can't wait return to this beautiful island.

this was a perfectly unique experience. We stayed in "The Oaktagon" tree house and it didn't disappoint. I had everything you needed for our get away. We were up to the challenge of paddling across the lake to the island (30-45 minute ride) rather than taking the ferry. The weather was perfect for a canoe ride. The dogs spent the day swimming and running around the island. We really enjoyed cooking on the deck while taking in the scenery the island had to offer. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for unique experience! FIVE STARS!
