The island was a welcome getaway. Great gift to have in "my backyard" of Maine. Kent, Heather, and the reset crew always looking to go the extra mile. Have already gushed about my trip to several people. I'm looking forward to my next family adventure at 1BSI. Thank you!

We stayed in the cleverly named “Oaktagon” yurt for three nights. Many years of diligent work and creative engineering is made evident in every pathway and structure on the island. Kent and Heather are thoughtful hosts who communicate a sustainable method of interacting with the natural world via the island’s accommodations. We were comfortable and had everything we needed to stay cozy. We particularly enjoyed the fancy jotul wood stove to pull the edge off of the cool nights and heat our water for morning coffee.
A highlight for us was our nightly candlelit dinners. -tip- bring some grill ready items in your cooler.
Rope swings and floating swim docks that line the shore are a major enticement to return later into summer. We loved the canoes available at the landing and logged many miles around the lake while fishing and being serenaded by the booming local loon population. Hope to return soon.
Thanks for everything.
Ps “loons rule” -Emily and Shane

We had an incredible stay at the Oaktagon tree house! Kent was a knowledgeable and helpful host, going above and beyond to accommodate our special requests. The tree house itself was spotless, and the location couldn’t have been more perfect—a serene, peaceful island escape. The new dock was a fantastic addition; we loved taking the provided canoe out for a relaxed paddle on Annabessacook Lake.
Our dog, Dunder, had the best time exploring, and we enjoyed listening to the loons at night and spotting local wildlife. If you're looking for a truly peaceful retreat with a host who genuinely cares, this is it! Highly recommend!

1BSI is an amazing place to bring your significant other for a quiet beautiful getaway. Or bring all your kids and four legged kids with you for a family adventure!
Kent and Heather make your trip easy, accommodating and stress free. I have stayed in two camp sites; very clean sites , bathroom/showers are clean and smell good, and your linen are fresh. Everything that you need is provided for you to have an easy stay. Just bring your clothes and food. If youre an over packer like me, no problem. Kent and Heather have made it easy to lug all your gear off and on the island.
If you haven't done much camping, kayaking/canoeing; no worries Kent and Heather are close by to help.
1BSI is just glamping enough to make your stay easy and comfortable, but not over the top! You're still enjoying the peaceful outdoors and disconnecting from the everyday grind.
Love this place. Recommending all my friends to get out there and relax.
Thank you Kent and Heather.
We'll see you soon.

This island was perfect for my girlfriend and I to take a trip with our dog! We loves the secludedness of the island as well as the vastness of it. Kent was incredibly nice and helpful throughout our stay I would recommend this place to anyone who wants peace and quiet near a beautiful body of water. We are looking forward to coming back!

Had a great time on 1BSI! Loved the disconnect from society. Got to see the stars and plenty of wildlife. Enjoyed some kayaking and our indoor hammock. The hosts of the island, Kent and Heather, are incredibly informative and kind. Would return!!!

We stayed for 2 nights in the Oaktagon. Kent was an amazing host and extremely helpful and kind! He kept us very well informed before, during, and after our stay. He made it clear what was supplied at the Oaktagon and what was not, so we were able to only pack and transport what we actually needed. If you're looking for a unique getaway, look no further!
