The Oaktagon Tree House is what happens when you decide to live with the forest instead of just visiting it. Built around a living red oak (her name is Annie), this octagonal tree house invites you up into the canopy, where birds provide the soundtrack and the lake glimmers below. Perched on a 14-acre island just a half-mile from shore, it’s a place to slow down, look outward through leaves and branches, and remember what it feels like to be held by trees.

My partner and I were blown away with how peaceful the island was, even in the pouring rain it made it even more of an incredible experience! Kent was the perfect host and just a genuinely nice person. 5 stars across the board, 100% visiting again asap!
It was wonderful! Boat ride to the island was a nice way to start and finish. Kent wS a great communicator before the trip so we knew what to expect. Loved the canoes and fishing and the whole vibe of the island. The Oaktagon treehouse yurt was beautiful and our kids loved it!
Our stay at the Oaktagon Treehouse was incredible. From the information provided leading up to the trip to the communication with Kent throughout our stay, we knew exactly what to pack and do to make our trip as fun as possible. The treehouse had everything we (a family of 5) needed, and the activities on the island were awesome! Whether it was paddling around in a canoe, fishing off the docks, flying off the rope swing, swimming, exploring the walking trails, or enjoying the beautiful scenery and sunset at Sunset Rock, we enjoyed every moment. If you decide to stay at the Oaktagon, you will be well taken care of. What a special and thoughtful place!
Amazing location and host. I plan on visiting again. Very clean, organized, and peaceful a great spot for a get away.
This is the most fun vacation I’ve ever had! I came with 5 of my best friends and we had so much fun. Kent is a great host and we look forward to returning hopefully soon!
Wow. My family has stayed at countless Airbnb locations over the past few years, and have always had a great experience. This definitely stands out as a clear winner though. First, the actual location. We stayed on a literal private island; how can you get better than that? Then, the host. Kent is beyond helpful, and one of those rare people that immediately feels like you've known him years. The frequent messages he sent were informative, amusing, and incredibly helpful. I don't think he left out a single detail, and we arrived at the lake feeling like we knew everything we needed to do. The Oaktagon house is beautiful, with adequate amenities that even a first time "camper" would feel comfortable. My kids loved swimming and using the "emergency hammocks" dotting the island, and we loved that we didn't need to pack a ton of gear to enjoy the solitude of the island. It was gorgeous, and Kent made sure we had everything we needed. I'd give ten stars out of five if I could!
Amazing place to stay, will be recommending to all of my friends looking for a nice weekend get-a-way!
Amazing! My family and I had a great time fishing, kayaking, and walking the trails with our dog. Kent was extremely hospitable and a responsive and attentive host helping us with anything and everything. Would definitely recommend to anyone whether you are a couple looking for a relaxing weekend or a big family like us looking for an adventurous getaway:)
We arrived at BSI little knowing what BSI had to offer us! Kent and Heather welcomed us like family and made us feel at home. The boat ride to the island was amazing. They took every step to make sure our stay was comfortable. Their passion for this island shows thru - they go out of their way to cater to our every need. Kent's personal touch to everything on this island was very nice. We stayed one night at the beautifully built Oaktagon. We spent time in the Oaktogon and with Annie the oak tree :) We walked around sunrise and sunset points, swam and kayaked around the island. Though the weather was a little rainy, we still found ample ways to relax - playing scrabble, reading and lying on the hammock. Kent has done an amazing job of creating an unforgettable and unique island experience!
Such a beautiful and peaceful retreat with an awesome host. We will be back! Thank you Kent!
